Getting Your Inventory Ready for Q4 Peak Season
The fourth quarter can make or break the year. Forecast demand early, get inventory in ahead of carrier cutoffs, and align labor and packaging before the rush so you ship on time when volume spikes instead of scrambling.

Peak season rewards preparation. The brands that have their best fourth quarter are the ones that forecast, receive, and stage inventory weeks before demand arrives, rather than reacting once orders start pouring in. Build your plan in late summer so nothing is a surprise.
Forecast with real data
Look at last year's order curve, factor in your growth rate, and flag the SKUs that spike hardest around promotions and holidays. Order enough to cover the peak plus a safety buffer, but not so much that you're paying long-term storage on unsold units in January.
Beat the carrier cutoffs
Inbound receiving slows down as warehouses fill up in Q4, and Amazon imposes restock limits and longer receive times. Get inventory into your fulfillment network early so it's checked in and sellable well ahead of the holiday cutoff dates, not stuck in a receiving queue during the busiest week of the year.
Stage packaging and promotions
Kits, gift bundles, inserts, and branded packaging should be assembled and staged before volume climbs. If you're running Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals, make sure the associated SKUs are prepped and positioned so a sudden surge doesn't overwhelm the pack line.
Scale labor and communication
A fulfillment partner that plans labor for the peak keeps ship times steady when order volume doubles. Agree on cutoffs, escalation paths, and reporting cadence up front, so if demand runs hot you already know how you'll respond.
